Bangladesh
has been Successful in achieving reduction in poverty since 1990. Figures shows
that significant decline in poverty occurred from 1991-92 to 2016-17. National poverty
headcount declined from 56.6 percent in 1991-92 to 24.3% in 2016-17 which is
very significant for developing of our country. From the graph we notice that
in 1991-92 the national poverty rate was 58.8% and the urban and rural poverty
rate was respectively 44.9% and 61.2%. In 1995-96 the national poverty rate was
51% and the urban and rural rate was respectively 29.4% and 55.2%. In 2000, we
can see the poverty rate was 48.9% and urban and rural rate was 35.2% and 52.3%
respectively. From 1991 to 2000, we can see , though the poverty line declined
but gradually. Now if we notice from 2000 to 2017, the nation poverty rate was
declined rapidly, compared to last 10 years. But if we notice the poverty rate
of urban and rural areas, the rural poverty rate was more than urban poverty
rates. For this situation, there many reason behind it. Say for, rural people
can’t get enough facility like urban people such as education facility, health
care facility and the lack of knowledge about family planning. If we work every
area and give enough facility, I hope that we will success to decline our
poverty rate rapidly.
